We use Open Live Writer (OLW) to write our blog posts. It’s been our go-to utility for a very long time.
Recently, the Blogger backend had some changes that somehow block the ability to post images via OLW.
So, one of our To Do List items that was not quite that high on the priority list got bumped up to the top: Migrating our current blog.
The catch though, is that migrating a Blogger blog to WordPress turned out to be such a chore. We would basically have to redo our blog posts all the way back to 2007.
Nope. No way. Not going to happen.
So, after some consideration and metrics study of the current blog location we decided to cut the cord and start fresh.
The new blog is built on WordPress. It’s hosted as an Azure Web App along with a few other company sites in the same resource group.
For now, we’re using the InApp MySQL version, despite the Dev indicator, since the cost to put MySQL in its own instance was not justified at this time.
If there comes a time where the sites hosted in the resource group are busy enough to warrant MySQL on its own we’ll migrate at that time.
We purchased Customizr Pro Lifetime as the template is quite versatile. We’ve set up a child template for some particular tweaks that will survive template updates. 🙂
Please feel free to comment or PING us with any questions or suggestions for tweaking the new blog site.
Thanks for reading! 🙂
